The Feeling Good Handbook
by David D. Burns
The Feeling Good Handbook has changed many lives in the world. Those who suffer from clinical depression, bipolar, suicidal tendancies, manic depression, will find it a key to living. Here's a story how this book changed one life...

Ok, now this one is a tough one for me to write about; partly because the painful periods in my life are not over - may never be over - partly because I'm currently
writing a novel delving into the pain through one of my main characters.
For those of you who have never been near suicide you will never ever ever know... How could you? Trust me, I don't want you to know it as well as I do - not ever as well as those of us who have "been there" so to speak.
The inner pain is much too fierce and should never be felt by any of us mere mortals - but some of us (you know who you are) know it only too well. Those who don't and really want to understand - or better yet help - will get so much from this book. Those of us who suffer(ed) will too. I only hope my own novel (whenever I can complete the painful project) will help bring a better understanding to others who suffer and their loved ones suffering in silence.
My battles with depression (thankfully not clinical depression - yet just as severe when it occurs) stem from so many things that have happened to me over a lifetime. You've heard the saying "walk a mile in my shoes" - well, please don't.
Oh the good times were/are very very very good with excitement, achievements, bursting with great things from/in life that most only dream about and sure, many have even envied me these - but I'm a firm believer we are all the "sum of the whole" and in order to experience the good you would have to experience the bad, the dark, the pain, the suffering - so please, don't ever wish to walk a mile in my shoes. It would break my heart to have to see you go through it all.
Back to the book. The help I received through it - and still receive using it for "first aid" when I feel the need boiling up inside me - helped me discover how to help myself. I learned what my "triggers" are, I discovered how to deal with them, I learned how to monitor myself through the rough patches, and most importantly - I lived.
Simply put, The Feeling Good Handbook saved my life.
