Sapphires

Sapphire: Sapphires are best known as a deep blue stone but also come in shades of gray, black, yellow, and green. Found in USA, Australia, and India.

In the 12th century the Bishop of Rennes recommended its use in rings - at that time the most favored in ecclesiastical rings because of the stone's affinity to the sky. It was also said to bannish fraud and was valued by necromancers for its ability to help them hear and understand particularly obscure oracles.

At one time Kings wore it about their necks as a powerful defense against harm. Legend claims Moses engraved the Law on tablets of Sapphire (but it was most likely Lapis Lazuli because Sapphire does not come in the size necessary to engrave such a list).

Healing properties: A serene stone, sapphire is said to help you find the best way to contemplate peacefulness of existence - helpful in meditations. They are claimed to lessen tension and align the mental, physical, and spiritual planes. Like the Emerald, Sapphires were considered an antidote against poison.

Can be important for people with spiritual confusion or depression. In history it was used as; an eye stone to remove impurities or foreign bodies, and as an energy source for removing plague boils (providing they were not too advanced).

Best worn as rings. Black Sapphires are said to be the most protective of all Sapphire colors.
