July ~ Ruby ~ Contentment
Crimson with just a tinge of blue, rubies are even more valuable than diamonds. A ruby ring sold at auction a few years ago for $4 million. Crown jewels always display the fire-glow of rubies. Like diamonds, rubies are cherished for their color, clarity, cut and weight. Similarly, a large single ruby will bring a higher price than two smaller stones of equal weight and quality. Especially prized are rubies exhibiting a six-rayed star when viewed from above. Transparent rubies are valued more than those with tiny, visible inclusions.

Your Flower(s)

July is represented by both the Larkspur and the Water Lily. The larkspur comes in a wide variety of colors although the most commonly seen in the wilds is blue. The water lily on the other hand is more commonly seen in yellows and whites - seen by some as a very romantic flower, by others as a danger to streams as it can quickly clog riverbeds.
